51 ^aAnd behold, ^bthe ^{▼▼ Or curtain}veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and ^dthe earth shook and the rocks were split. 52 The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the ^{▼▼ Or holy ones}saints who had ^ffallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered ^gthe holy city and appeared to many. 54 ^hNow the centurion, and those who were with him ⁱkeeping guard over Jesus, when they saw ^jthe earthquake and the things that were happening, became very frightened and said, “Truly this was ^{▼▼ Or a son of God or a son of a god
,} ^lthe Son of God!”

55 ^mMany women were there looking on from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee while ^{▼▼ Or caring for Him
,} ^oministering to Him. 56 Among them was ^pMary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and ^qthe mother of the sons of Zebedee.
